Draw a character. Give it bones. Make it act.

Rigatoon is a 2D animation app where drawing, rigging and animating happen in one place, on sets in real 3D.

One app

From the first line to the last frame

01 · DRAW

Draw it

Smooth brushes, layers, selections, vector shapes and liquify. Bring in your Photoshop and SVG files with their layers.

02 · RIG

Rig it

Bones, IK, meshes and weights. Drag a foot and the leg follows. Or auto-rig a drawing from a template.

03 · ANIMATE

Make it act

Keys, curves and onion skin on a timeline made for acting, with sliders and dials right on the drawing.

04 · STAGE

Put it on stage

Several actors in one scene, each playing its own animation, under a sky, in snow or rain, filmed with cameras.

Worlds in 3D

Not just characters. Whole worlds.

Build sets with real depth (a street at night, a train station, a whole city) and film them with cameras, under a sky, in the rain.

A street at night · rain
A station in 3D
Particles · rain that bounces
Cameras · a tour of the city
Camera effects

The same shot, a whole new look

Each camera can turn its picture into pixel art, draw outlines, grade the colours and add a vignette, live in the views and in every export. Drag the line.

Real depth

One scene, every angle

Your drawings sit in real 3D space. Turn a character round and see it from the top, the front, the side and in perspective at once.

Everything inside

The things that make it feel alive

Drawing

Brushes and selectionsSoft and hard brushes with pressure, selections, fills that close gaps, folders and blend modes.
Vector shapesPen and shapes, gradients, path operations and linked styles. SVG in and out.
LiquifyPush and twirl a drawing into shape, in the rest pose or on any frame.
Bend in 3DCurve a flat layer round a body, a sleeve or a tail.
3D bumpsPush a mesh out of its plane, so a head turns like a volume.

Rigging

Bones and IKChains of any length, a goal to drag, poles, look-at and stretch.
Auto-rigClick the joints of a drawing and get a whole rig from a template.
Meshes and weightsTrace a mesh round the drawing, bind it, paint and smooth the weights.
FacesBlinks, looks, mouths and brows set up in five guided steps.
SwapsA fist, an open hand, a whole new view of the head, switched on one bone.
Image swapsSeveral drawings for one part, picked by a key or a slider.
MasksClip eyes into their whites, a pattern into a shirt, layers into a group.
PatchesHide the seam where a limb joins the body, whatever the pose.
Rig templatesSave a rig as a template and use it on the next drawing.

Animating

Keys and timelineKeys, onion skin, events and a dopesheet that nests like your rig.
CurvesA graph editor with Bézier handles and easing presets.
Control panelSliders and dials over the view that drive a whole rig: walk to run, a smile.
Joysticks and boardsDraw your own control boards and pose faces with one knob.
Springs and windHair, tails and bellies that follow through, pushed by gusts of wind.
ClothCapes, skirts and flags that hang and swing, pinned to the rig.
CollidersHair and cloth that slide over the body instead of through it.
BoilThe hand-drawn wobble, without redrawing every frame.
ShakeNervous hands, a car engine, an earthquake: noise on any channel.
MixesCross-fade walk into run, layer clips on tracks, time them to sound.
Lip syncType the line or drop the recording: the mouth shapes land on the frames.
LibrarySave poses, parts, faces and whole rigs, and reuse them on the next character.

The stage

ActorsSeveral characters in one scene, each worked on alone.
CamerasLenses, moves and cuts, like on a film set.
SkyDay, dusk or night all around, or a painted panorama.
ParticlesRain, snow, sparks, smoke, dust, magic, leaves and bubbles.
Bursts and splashesParticles born on a frame, on a hit, or where rain meets the ground.
Real depthFour views, per-pixel depth, and characters that turn round in 3D.
